My guest this week is Seth Familian, who specializes in connecting powerful web-based tools and services to create highly customized marketing + analytics experiences for product and content marketing teams. He is the founder and principal of Familian&1, a visual insights and automation consultancy whose work has benefitted companies including Cisco, RingCentral, Adorama and Cloud9. Seth is also an avid educator with experience teaching over 800 students in 40+ workshops on Visual Design with Data, Working with Big Data, Digital Tools for Business and Affordable Web Design. He has lectured at General Assembly, Galvanize, Impact HUB SF, Presidio Graduate School, the Haas School of Business and KQED.

My guest this week is Jeff Williams, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Contrast Security.
The reason that I wanted Jeff on the program is that his technology was massively interesting to me, given that application attacks are the single biggest vector for security breaches. In 2017 There will be 111 billion new lines of code produced resulting in endless complexity.
His product was an Innovation Sandbox Finalist at RSA this year. So I wanted to understand more.
I have tried to integrate application level firewalls and experienced working through real & hard human challenges of coders and network security people trying to defend and deploy at the same time I wanted to understand his technology better AND because iterative application development is going to be even more important for companies for their security to move at the pace of the business innovation and applications development and testing becoming more and more iterative and agile. So how do we do this?

My guest this week is the Greg Satell.
Greg is a popular writer, speaker and innovation advisor, whose work has appeared in Harvard Business Review, and Forbes.
I met Greg through the two gentlemen at Experian who have been on the show recently, Eric Haller, Executive Vice President of Experian’s DataLabs, and Barry Libenson, CIO of Experian. Birds of a feather flock together, as they say. As Greg and I were setting up the conversation, he just released his first book called Mapping Innovation: A Playbook for Navigating a disruptive age. It was published in May of 2017.

My guest this week is Jim Linn, Managing Director of Information Technology of American Gas Association. In an association, this simply means he is the “top dog” with IT.
What is fascinating about my guest today is that he built his own ISAC (information Sharing and Analysis Center) from scratch to service his industry - Natural Gas, which is part of the critical infrastructure of the US. He is the Executive Director for the Downstream Natural Gas Information Sharing and Analysis Center (DNG-ISAC).
By Far Jim has the most industry certification I have ever seen:
- B.S. degree in Computer Systems Management from Drexel University and an M.B.A. from Drexel University
- He is a Certified Chief Information Security Officer
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional
- Certified Association Executive
- Certified Information Systems Auditor.
Jim is quiet spoken but as I talked with him the word WISDOM kept popping up for me.

Jim has spent the past 30 years of his career in Information Technology and Cybersecurity management with several non-profit organizations in the Washington, DC area. He is presently Managing Director, Information Technology for the American Gas Association,and has been for the past nineteen years. Prior to that he spent eight years as IT Director for the Chemical Manufacturers Association. He planned IT projects and set technical direction for both of these organizations. In addition, he is a Certified Chief Information Security Officer, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Certified Association Executive, Certified Information Systems Auditor, and holds many other industry certifications.
In recent years Jim has split his time between internal IT responsibilities and industry responsibilities. Jim is the information technology cybersecurity subject matter expert for AGA’s cybersecurity Strategy Task Force. In this capacity he has administered cybersecurity reviews with a number of natural gas utilities and also serves as Executive Director for the Downstream Natural Gas ISAC (https://www.dngisac.com/). He is the staff executive for AGA’s Customer Service Committee and Technology Advisory Council. In these capacities he serves senior leaders in the fields of Customer Service and Information Technology within the natural gas distribution industry. The Customer Service area includes an annual benchmarking effort, two workshops and a large conference. The Information Technology area includes two council meetings annually.
Jim has a B.S. degree in Computer Systems Management from Drexel University and an M.B.A. from Drexel University.

Bill Granger, chief technology officer, joined Walker & Dunlop in 2010. Mr. Granger is responsible for managing and expanding the company’s information technology infrastructure. Before joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Granger was director of Information Technology at Beers & Cutler, a Virginia-based accounting firm recently acquired by Baker Tilly, LLC. At Beers & Cutler, Mr. Granger successfully upgraded the firm’s infrastructure to position the firm for expansion prior to the company’s acquisition. Previous to Beers & Cutler, Mr. Granger led the application group for the Mills Corporation and the technology infrastructure group at Charles E. About Bob Fecteau
Bob Fecteau is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for SAIC. In this role, Bob is responsible for guiding technology investments and delivering operational services in direct support of the business. As the CIO, Bob focuses on the efficiency and effectiveness of enterprise IT operations in support of both internal business needs and customer support processes.
Prior to joining SAIC, Bob served as the CIO of BAE Systems’ Intelligence and Security sector and as Chief Information Officer, United States Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). In 2001, he was selected for the Department of Defense’s Chief Information Officer Award for Outstanding Achievement in Information Management.
As an Army officer he served a variety of roles with the intelligence branch including, Army System Integration Management Officer (SIMO) for Army Intelligence; Intelligence Systems Architect for automated systems; Tactical Intelligence Officer; Human Intelligence Officer; and Company Commander. While assigned to Army headquarters as the Army SIMO, he received the National Intelligence Meritorious Citation for support to the Army’s and National Intelligence Community’s Y2K mission as well as serving as the Army’s Intelligence Year 2000 Program Manager.
Bob also serves the technical community as an executive board member of CIO Magazine’s CIO Executive Council and a judge for their annual One’s To Watch program. He also works as a mentor within the Pathways Program and teaches Enterprise Architecture and IT Leadership at Carnegie Mellon University’s Executive Education Program.
Bob's technical and leadership acumen has also been recognized by industry peers. In 2009 he was selected as one of the top 100 IT Leaders by Computerworld Magazine and in 2004, he received Government Executive Magazine’s Grace Hopper Government Technology Leadership Award for his efforts in breaking down barriers between government and industry through the use of the Army Contractor Automated Verification System (ACAVS). The ACAVS system has continued to deliver outstanding savings for the U.S. Army and contract companies in support of intelligence missions.
Bob received a Bachelor of Science degree from Corpus Christi State University and completed Syracuse University’s masters of information studies in Washington, D.C. He also received a Chief Information Officer certificate from the National Defense University.

About Eric Haller
Eric Haller is the Executive Vice President of Experian DataLabs. Experian DataLabs is responsible for developing innovative products generated from break-through experimentation leveraging machine learning and data assets from a variety of sources. He led the creation of labs in the US, UK & Brazil that support research & development initiatives across the Experian enterprise. New products developed in the labs cover mobile, payments, consumer & commercial credit, fraud, targeted marketing & healthcare. Prior to Experian, Eric was responsible for new products with Sequoia Capital backed Green Dot where he created and brought to market the first credit card a consumer could purchase off of a j-hook in a retailer. Eric also co-founded identity fraud detection business iDawg which was later renamed ID Analytics. ID Analytics was acquired by LifeLock which is now part of Symantec. Other roles held by Eric includes Chief Marketing Officer of the first publicly traded machine learning company, HNC Software (acquired by FICO) and executive roles with Visa & MasterCard.

Lisa Kay Solomon is a well-known thought leader in design innovation with a focus on building the leadership skills required to ignite change and create lasting impact. Lisa is Principal Faculty and Managing Director of Transformational Practices at Singularity University a global community of smart, passionate, action-oriented leaders who want to use exponential technologies to positively impact the world.
Lisa coauthored the Wall Street Journal bestseller, Moments of Impact: How to Design Strategic Conversations that Accelerate Change (Simon & Schuster), which Publisher's Weekly called a guide every frustrated meeting-goer should read, with advice they should all implement. In it, she provides leaders the tools and frameworks to create strategic conversations and design team meetings that shape the future of their organizations.
Her new book, Design a Better Business: New Tools, Skills and Mindset for Strategy and Innovation, was just released with Wiley Publishing. She and her co-authors provide a full set of design tools, strategies and practices that allow individuals and organizations to be more flexible and resilient in the face of constant change.
Lisa is a frequent keynote speaker on innovation, design thinking and leadership at global conferences. She has taught at the revolutionary Design MBA program at California College of the Arts and has developed and led popular classes for Stanford d. School such as Networking By Design and Design With the Brain in Mind.
A passionate educator, Lisa works extensively with K12 educators and school leaders. As a member of the Senior Executive Leadership of United Therapeutics Corporation, Shola provides technology, vision, and leadership in the development and implementation of the global information technology (IT) program. In that role he supports the Finance, HR, R&D, Manufacturing, Sales & Marketing, and various business units in planning and implementing enterprise information systems to support both distributed and centralized business operations, and achieve more effective and cost beneficial enterprise-wide IT operations.
